Mahindra & Mahindra launched the all-new Scorpio N in June this year. With the price range starting at Rs. 11.99 lakh and going all the way up to Rs. 23.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the deliveries of the ‘Big Daddy of SUVs’ commenced on 26th September. The Indian SUV maker has prioritised the production and delivery of the top-spec Z8L variant. It also plans to deliver the first 25,000 units which are price protected within an average time period of 4 months.
This means the launch price is only applicable for the initial 25,000 bookings and the rest of the SUVs will be sold at the price applicable at the time of delivery, however, the company has not hiked the prices till now. As of now, you will only see the top-spec variant of the Scorpio N on Indian roads, and surprisingly Mahindra hasn’t even showcased the other variants. So today we bring you the clearest shots of the base Z2 trim via a YouTube video by ‘KHUSHAL KUMAR’.
Mahindra Scorpio N Base Z2 trim: All Details
The base Z2 trim is available in both petrol and diesel powertrain options. The Z2 petrol is priced at Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the diesel Z2 will set you back by Rs. 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of powertrain, it is powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion TGDi petrol engine churning out 200 bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque. It is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel engine on offer is a 2.0-litre mHawk which is good enough for 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. Like the petrol engine, it is only offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. For reference, the diesel engine in the Z2 gets a lower state of tune as compared to higher trims. From Z4 automatic as well as 4X4 and Z6 variants, the 2.2 litre mHawk Diesel unit belts out 175 bhp of maximum power. The 6-speed manual gearbox option gets 370 Nm of peak torque while the 6-speed torque converter comes with 400 Nm of peak torque.
Talking about the styling and equipment, the base Z2 trims get regular signature dual barrel reflector-based halogen headlamps with an all-black front grille and skid plate. It misses out on LED projector fog lamps and sequential LED turn indicators. Towards the sides, it gets 17-inch steel wheel shod with 245/65 section tyres, black ORVMs and door handles while skipping on ski-rack and signature Scorpio tail element. The rear profile features tall staked LED tail lamps, and a black boot handle, while missing out on a rear spoiler.
Inside the cabin, the Z2 variant gets regular fabric seats, a brown-black finish on the dashboard as well as doors, front and rear armrests, reading lamps for 1st and 2nd row, adjustable headrests and more. The vehicle shown in this video seems to be a test vehicle as it misses out on an infotainment system and steering-mounted audio controls. As per the official brochure, the base trim will get a touchscreen infotainment system with steering audio controls which will be devoid of features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, in-built navigation etc. It will get a normal monochrome 4.2-inch instrument cluster as opposed to a 7-inch colour TFT unit on top-spec trims. Other standard technology and safety features on board the Z2 trim include 2 airbags, ABS+EBD, rear parking sensors, 2nd row AC vents, USB charging ports, engine start-stop system, all four power windows and 2nd row 1 touch tumble function amongst others.
