WhatsApp to bring a camera shortcut for iPhones that will allow users to quickly access the camera within the app.
WhatsApp is reportedly planning to bring a camera shortcut for iPhone users that will let them access the camera easily. As per a report by WaBetaInfo, the Meta-owned instant messaging app will be bringing this new feature on WhatsApp beta for iOS 188.8.131.52 update. The new update submitted through the TestFlight beta Programme shows that the camera shortcut for iPhones will be placed in the navigation bar and will show up for users who can create a community in the future.
This new camera shortcut on WhatsApp will allow users to quickly access the camera within the app. Currently, WhatsApp offers a separate camera tab, but it will later be replaced with the Communities tab. According to the report, the camera shortcut on iPhones looks similar to the one on Android, however, the feature is under development and is not available to users right now. It is expected to roll out with a future update soon.
Recently, WhatsApp had released the same camera shortcut to Android beta users who can create a community as well, however, it was pulled later due to a bug.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is planning to bring a new feature that will allow users to search messages by date. As reported by WaBetaInfo, the instant messaging platform is working on a search message by date feature. Once the feature is rolled out, users will see a new calendar icon when they search for a message in a conversation. With this icon, users will be able to view messages for a certain date. Further, they will be able to dismiss the date view by simply scrolling through the conversation.
That’s not all, the instant messaging app will also be rolling out a new privacy feature that lets users hide their online active status from selected contacts this month. The feature is already available for the beta testers and will be released widely soon.
