What will iPhone 14 look like? A cross between iPhone 12 and iPhone 4

iPhone 14 renders suggest the design of iPhone 12 crossed with an iPhone 4.

The next Apple event will announce iPhone 14 launch in September 2022. We already have quite a bit of insight about the expected features and specifications of the upcoming iPhone. The lineup is likely to include an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, and there will be no iPhone 14 mini. Now, a video by Jon Prosser and his Front Page Tech video divulges the purported iPhone 14 look, including the new “hole + pill shape” cutout, larger camera bumps, and more. There are also some interesting iPhone 14 design comparisons with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 4. According to Prosser’s Front Page Tech video, the iPhone 14 will look like an iPhone 12 crossed with an iPhone 4 in that it’ll stick with flat edges. However, notably, those edges could include a mute button and a group of rounded buttons for volume central, harking back to the iPhone 4. Yes, iPhone 4, which was launched in June, 2010 by the iconic Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. It was promoted as the thinnest smartphone in the world then.

The renders are based on images of the iPhone with design aspects similar to the iPhone 4. They showed an iPhone with no notch, no camera bump, and round volume buttons with the glass front and back similar to the iPhone 4 while it appears to retain many of the design elements of the flat-sided iPhone 12 as well.

However, no details were provided about how Apple achieved this design as the renders are based on images only.

Meanwhile, Apple is expecting to bring major upgrades to iPhone 14 Pro models, including designs to specs. While the non pro models iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will reportedly feature the same notch design used earlier, along with the same aluminum edges, Apple will ditch the notch this year for Pro models to bring a new hole punch and pill-shaped cutout. Further, the iPhone 14 non pro models will rely on an year old chipset whereas pro models will be powered by latest iPhone 16 chipset.
